Raffi specializes in mergers and acquisitions, cannabis law, cannabis licensing and regulatory compliance, intellectual property, finance, and general corporate and business law. Raffi also has expertise in capital markets, including public offerings and private placements of equity and debt securities, ’34 Act filings and public company corporate compliance.
Prior to joining the firm, Raffi was an associate in the capital markets group at Mayer Brown LLP in New York where he represented large financial institutions, Fortune 500 companies, and underwriters in securities transactions including a $2 billion fixed rate notes offering for the Dow Chemical Company, a $500 million hybrid offering of debt and equity for The Allstate Corporation, and a $750,000,000 hybrid notes offering for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Additionally, Raffi represented an Israeli biotechnology company in its $30.5 million Initial Public Offering.
Raffi is the author of Founder, JD: How America’s Top Lawyers Leverage their Law Degree in the Startup World and How You Can Too, a book that explores the intersect between law an entrepreneurship, and provides guidance for lawyers and law students to better serve their current and future business clients and to leverage their law degree in the startup world. Raffi has also written several articles for Lexis Nexis, Lexology, and JD Supra on new developments in securities law.
Raffi is also heavily involved in the entrepreneurship space, having started several companies of his own. He was named a Melissa & Doug Entrepreneurship Fellow in 2014 for his startup Pinion Pins, and a semi-finalist in the George Washington University New Venture Competition for his startup Waist Grippers. Raffi holds one patent and several trademarks.
